Not to Be Dramatic… But I Drank My Coffee Hot Today

Not to be dramatic…

but I drank my coffee hot today.

Like… actually hot.

Not microwaved. Not reheated three times. Not abandoned on the counter while I negotiated a hostage situation over snacks.

Hot. The first time.

That alone felt like a small miracle.

You Know the Kind of Morning I Mean

You wake up with good intentions.

Maybe even a plan.

Coffee in hand. Kids content. A calm start to the day.

And then…

-someone spills something immediately

- someone cries because their banana broke in half

- someone needs you right now while you’re finally sitting down

And just like that… Your coffee is cold.

Again.

The Rare, Glorious Win

But today was different.

Today, my kids were playing.

Not climbing on me.

Not asking for a million things.

Not one foot away from danger at all times.

They were just… playing.

And I was just… sitting.

With my coffee.

HOT.

I didn’t rush it.

I didn’t chug it like survival mode.

I actually enjoyed it.

This Is What We’re Actually Looking For

It’s funny how something so small feels so big as a parent or caregiver. But if you’re in this season of parenthood, you get it.

We’re not asking for luxury.

We’re not asking for perfection.

We’re just looking for:

-a place where our kids can play freely

- a moment to breathe

and maybe, just maybe, finish a cup of coffee. That's it.

The Kind of Place That Makes This Possible

That’s why places like The Play Patch in Boerne just make sense. Because it’s not just about keeping your kids busy.

It’s about creating a space where:

-they’re safe

- they’re entertained

-and you’re not in constant “watch everything” mode

You can sit.

You can talk.

You can drink your coffee while it’s still warm.

And if you know… you know.

It’s the Little Things

It’s easy to overlook moments like this.

But they matter.

Because sometimes the reset you need isn’t a full day off or a big plan. Sometimes it’s:

- getting out of the house

- letting your kids burn energy

-and having five uninterrupted minutes to yourself

That’s the kind of win that carries you through the rest of the day.

Final Thoughts

Not to be dramatic…

but drinking your coffee hot feels like a personality trait at this point.

And if you’ve been stuck in the cycle of cold coffee, chaos, and trying to do it all— Maybe it’s time to find a place that makes things just a little easier.

Because you deserve that moment too.
